The fiction industry has become a hostile world for aspiring writers. One commercial magazine receives 2500 manuscripts per month, from which the editors choose two for publication. With odds like this, publishers have no reason--or time--to care about the individual writer. Today, the writer is lucky to receive a preprinted rejection notice, let alone personal comments.
Constructive Critiques gives you the personal attention and encouragement that allows you to grow as a writer. After a thorough reading of your story, your instructor will provide a detailed and individual critique. You'll learn where your strengths lie, where improvements can be made, and how to make those improvements.
Structure and story concept will be evaluated. In addition, you'll receive specific grammar and style suggestions. Your story will be critiqued line by line and as a whole entity. If your instructor feels your story is marketable in its present form or with slight changes, she will offer specific recommendations for marketing your work.
In most cases, e-mail stories and completed critiques will be returned within one week. Mailed stories require an extra week for travel.
