In most cases, e-mail stories and completed critiques will be returned to you within one week. Mailed stories require an extra week for travel.
Novels
For novels, please send the first 10,000 words (approximately) of your novel. Also send a synopsis or outline if you have one. You'll receive a critique, telling your strengths and weaknesses, plus line editing and suggestions for improvement. If you like the critique, you may then send the next 10,000 words.
For e-mail orders:
- Use 12-point text.
- Be sure to keep a copy of your work.
E-mail your story to:
For "snail mail" (US Post Office) orders:
- Use a typewriter or a computer printer. Please do not send hand-written documents.
- Use one inch margins on all four sides. (Side margins of 1-1/4" are okay.)
- Double space.
- Number pages consecutively.
- Use a 12-point font such as Arial, Courier, or New Century Schoolbook. You want to end up with approximately 250 words per page. This is what editors will expect from you.
- Be sure to keep a copy of your work in case of loss.
